1930’s house dormer extension: midlothian

This project involved a loft conversion and introduction of a large dormer to an amazing 1930’s Arts and Crafts style house in Midlothian. The changing needs of this young family meant that an additional bedroom and home working space was required. The property sits in a prominent location with stunning views down towards a nearby viaduct.

The best approach to meet the needs of the client and the stringent planning guidelines was to create a modern dormer that is clearly distinct in style whilst being sympathetic to the existing house. Copper oxide cladding and bespoke roof vents allow the dormer to compliment the steep terracotta roofscape.
